Weekend Recap

Ahhh... good morning my lovelies!  I hope you were able to ease into this new work week nice and easy - no major fires to put out at work or at home. =)

As usual, I'm going to recap my weekend.  I did a much better job of taking pics of what I actually did this time around!  Saturday found me getting an oil change, spending the day shopping with my mom, going out to dinner with  Michael and renting "John Carter" from the redbox.  Sunday was church, errands, and chores like it was my job.  Seriously, I did 5 loads of laundry!

I'd also like to mention that even though I went to the mall for the entire day Saturday, with my mom, I left there only spending $2.  {Shut the front door!}  And that was spent on a birthday card.  For my boss.  {fail}

{eek!}

Can I tell you about this crazy bug?  We found him outside of the grocery store on our way to getting the movie... look at those pinchers! =(  Seriously scary stuff.  I did google this bug and found out what it is, but I can't pronounce nor spell it's name.  But, sometimes it's called "The Man Eater".

Done.  I f-ing hate bugs!

{I cleaned and reorganized my kitchen counter!}
 I don't know how you all feel about your kitchen workspace, but I never feel like I have enough!  So on Sunday, after I spent like 2 hours cooking and reorganizing my refrigerator, I went ahead and sanitized my counter and found new places for everything.

I used to keep all of my oils and such along the back wall, but it looked very cluttered.  A judicious use of a round plate keeps everything together and looks much nicer.  And I picked up that recipe holder for $2 at a thrift store.

{hosta}
 Several years ago my bff's mom had hosta to give away.  And really folks, you should never have to buy hosta - people will give you some.

Let me tell you about hosta, if you don't already know.  It's impossible to make this stuff not grow.  Seriously.... we didn't even dig holes for it.  Ruth gave me some & I just threw it on the ground where I wanted it to be and put a little dirt over the roots.

And it spreads like a weed.  This picture isn't the best, but it has very charming purple flowers. =)

{a cosmetics experiment}
 A few posts ago I wrote about my new blog friend Jamie and the cosmetics haul I got from her.  It included this tinted moisturizer and primer from Laura Mercier.  I hadn't heard of this brand but was excited to see it.

I tried it on Saturday... totally in love.  The tinted moisturizer is very close to the same shade as my Aveeno, but goes on a lot nicer.  And the primer - looooove.  I generally hate primers because I think they feel greasy and heavy, but not this one.  It's smooth and seems to soak into the skin.

{food!}
 Sunday found me cooking.  I had every intention of making this meal last week, but Michael worked late nearly every night so it never happened.  But now it's all ready to go for tomorrow.  I made brown basmati rice, mushroom & spinach korma, and sweet & savory glazed carrots.

{dinner carnage}
Michael & I went out to dinner Saturday night, and this is what was left.  We shared some garlic fries {amazing}, he got a tuna & bacon sandwich {tucon? bacna? porish? what do you call that?} and I got a fried eggplant sandwich with pesto.  Totally yummy.

And a couple of Ten Penny Ales to round things out.

What did you do this weekend??
