Last month a friend of mine approached me about making a bag to go inside the Bike Basket he was buying for his wife, for their anniversary. Of course, I told him I would do it!
Of course, it would have been helpful to see the basket before I agreed to make the bag...
At any rate, with some help from Michael {who made the pattern for the bag} I was able to create the following:
 |
| sorry for the garish ironing board cover... =( |
I can't even tell you how excited I was to find bicycle print flannel at the fabric store. It totally made the project....
 |
| look - pockets! |
What you can't see is the 'outside' of the bag, which is a heavy-duty brown cotton. I made it that way so it could be take out of the basket and used in the even that they went on a picnic or some such.
 |
| isn't the fabric just darling? |
Hardest part of making this? Attaching the cylinder-shaped bag to the vaguely rectangular bottom section. But about 1.5 hours later, the whole this was done - including cutting time. I think it's just fabulous!
Of course, I'll gladly make you one if you have a bike basket.... can't guarantee you'll get this fabulous fabric though!
Peace & Love,
Oh that is sooo sweet-- Almost makes me wish I had a bike!
ReplyDeleteThat is really cute! I love it :-)
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I will say it again - this is a waste of a talent for you to not be earning some kind of a living from your craft stuff - even if it is only part-time through Etsy.
People are willing to pay good money for such cute things
Lou :-)
That is so stinkin' cute! It makes me want to get a cruiser bike that can be best friends with my racing bike, and the cruiser can have a basket with a liner. I love/hate it sometimes when I see such adorableness on a blog!
